Gordarike - Mediavel park in Gol town center
| Mysticism and religion during the transition from norse to christian religion is the theme in Gordarike middle age park and Gol Stave Church. Gol Stave Church is an exact copy of the original from the 13th century, which is now at the Norwegian Folk Museum in Oslo. An exhibition shows the main features of stave church arcitecture. The church is concecrated and in regular use. In the Norse Viking chieftain’s house there is an exhibition about the Norse Gods. Informative tableaux and illustrations give a good overview of the Norse world, explaining about gods, giants, dwarves and elves in an exciting manner. The concept of Ragnarokk (doom of the gods), Yggdrasil (mythological tree between heaven and hell) and Midtgardsormen (mythological serpent) are made more understandable. You can also watch a short film about how stave churches were built in former times. New in 2010: Yggdrasil - an 30 meter long tower.
