Ice climbing in Gol and Golsfjellet
Golsjuvet Golsjuvet is very popular among experienced ice climbers, but also offers plenty of opportunities for beginners, as basic courses are offered. However, clmbing here can be dangerous when the ice in the river isn`t hard enough or when the water is high.
Basic Course The aim of this course is to give a basic understanding of ice climbing in Norway. It includes: Climbing techniques, practical and theoretic sessions about security on ice and snow, modern rope techniques, how to plan routes. Some experince whith glacier walking or climbing is necessary.

Ice climbing - Courses /guiding Leslie Ayres has 30 years of experience whith ice climbing and is a certified internationae IFMGA guide. He offers basic ice climbing courses in some of the water falls in Hallingdal.: - Rjukandefossen - for beginners (1-6 pers) - Haugsfossen - for those with more experience (1-3 pers) - Golsjuvet - for the more atheletic or those only with climbing experience. (1-6 pers) - Longer trips, or more extreme waterfalls - for those with long climbing experience.
